Personal Fundraising Appeal Letter: As an individual, one of the easiest and best ways for you to raise money for SDS is through sending a personal letter to family, friends and teachers telling them how important SDS is to you, to the progressive and student movements in America, and asking them to contribute. (Of course, you know your family and friends best, and know whether asking would be appropriate for their financial situation). The Fundraising WG has written a model letter for you to send – just personalize it with some info about what you do in SDS and why SDS’ work is important to you. This isn’t about getting your family to support SDS’s progressive politics, it’s about showing their love and support for your interests. There’s no reason to feel hesitant or embarrassed, this type of fundraising is essential to grassroots social change.
